Companies throughout south London are being recruited as Apprenticeship Ambassadors to encourage firms to set up training programmes that will benefit both young people and business productivity.
Firms have been invited by South London Business to attend a high profile meeting in Southwark later this month to hear about the Apprenticeship Ambassadors Network. Guest speaker will be Skills Minister David Lammy MP.
“Setting up an apprenticeship programme is an investment in a business’s future,’ said chief executive of South London Business, Peter Pledger. “With a workforce staying abreast of improving technologies and developing specialist skills they are certain to assist in maintaining the competitive edge for a business within their industry,? he added.
Research has shown that apprentices who are trained as they work prove very loyal to the company they are with, they can be more productive and produce higher quality work.
Apprenticeships are administered by the local Learning and Skills Council and funded by the Government.
The Apprenticeship Ambassadors event takes place on the evening of April 30th at Glaziers Hall, Southwark. Companies wishing to attend should contact Natalie Sheldon on 0208 256 1290.
