Boris Johnson's £50m pot for outer London
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has set aside a £50m fund to boost regeneration in outer London. Councils will be encouraged to bid for the money, which was left over when the government axed the London Development Agency. The Mayor’s fund has the aim of supporting the creation of local businesses and the improvement of leisure, culture, arts and retail provisions in boroughs that will not directly benefit from the Olympics or Crossrail. Wimbledon has been singled out by Assembly Member Richard Tracey as a town centre which should stand to gain money for development and transport infrastructure investment.
