Business and the Election - An Evening With David Blunkett

South London Business are delighted to invite you to an evening with David Blunkett at The A4e Offices in Brixton on the 17th of March, where we will be discussing “Business and the Election.”

As Home Secretary at the time of the 9/11 attacks, David Blunkett served through some of the most turbulent events of recent years. When Tony Blair's New Labour got elected, David Blunkett was put in charge of education and employment.

He developed the Learning and Skills Councils, created Job Centre Plus and launched the New Deal which created over 100,000 jobs for young people. In 2001, he was promoted to Home Secretary. However, in December 2004 Blunkett resigned from his Cabinet post. It was not long, however, before David Blunkett was back in the Cabinet. After the May 2005 general election, Tony Blair appointed Blunkett as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for businesses in South London to learn about how the election will affect local businesses.

If you would like to join us on the 17th of March, please contact the events team on 0208 253 4293 or email events@southlondonbusiness.co.uk with “David Blunkett” in the subject line.
