Business Speed Networking Event Launches to Raise Money for Local Charity
17th September 2008
A new form of business networking which allows people to speed network
with each other has been set up in the Bromley Borough.
Husband and wife team Jamie and Lauretta Wright from Petts Wood launched Cut to the Chase earlier this year and, due to popular demand, is expanding the initiative to a new venue in Bromley next month.
The Bromley launch event will take place at The Ivory Lounge on Ringers
Road, Bromley on Wednesday 15th October between 1pm and 4.30pm. The event is being held to raise money for the newly merged Harris HospisCare with St Christopher’s, based in Orpington.
Jamie and Lauretta chose to support Harris HospisCare with St
Christopher’s because they recognise that the charity works incredibly hard
to raise money to support families in the Borough. All monies raised from the day will be donated to the charity.
Over 40 local businesses are expected to attend, along with The Mayor of
Bromley, Cllr Denise Reddin, who will officially launch the event.
Acclaimed business author and management consultant Chris Lilly is also
attending as the event's Guest Speaker. Chris will provide an inspirational
speech about common mistakes businesses make when starting up and how businesses can ensure they maximise their potential. Copies of his book "The Start Up Survival Guide" will be available to purchase with a special 20% discount off the published price for Cut to the Chase attendees.
Lauretta said: "The concept of Cut to the Chase has proved incredibly
popular with the local business community. It appeals to all manner of
businesses, from sole traders and start-ups through to the larger companies who see great value in doing business locally.â€
Cut to the Chase has been running monthly since February 2008 at the Royal British Legion Club in Petts Wood. The event runs for two hours and
attracts between 20-30 attendees. It includes a short introductory speech, a guest speaker and two networking sessions with an interval halfway through.
Due to its popularity, Lauretta and Jamie decided to increase the event's
frequency to two networking events per month.
Events are cost-effective and there is no compulsory joining or membership
fees. Sessions cost £20, or for businesses wishing to remain exclusive at
events (i.e. be the only business type in their sector with no competitors
attending) the cost is £30. Any person referring a business colleague or friend who attends Cut to the Chase automatically receives a £5 discount off their next visit. Attendees are given a loyalty card upon arrival whereby if they attend three events at any time, they'll receive their fourth event free.
