Dragon Awards 2008

15 May 2008

The Lord Mayor’s Dragon Awards, celebrating corporate community involvement throughout Greater London.

The Awards were first established in 1986 by the then Lord Mayor of the City of London. The Lord Mayor’s prestigious Dragon Awards annually celebrate contributions made by businesses and public offices in London toward the social and economic regeneration of their local communities. Recognition is given to enterprises which go above and beyond the nature of their business to demonstrate real commitment to corporate community involvement. The Dragon Award winners truly understand what a committment to Community Affairs entails. Now in their 20th year, the Awards have seen the quality of submissions rapidly increase as community involvement becomes an ever-more important part of business culture.

Entrants to the scheme are invited to an annual Awards banquette hosted by the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House, which presents an opportunity to share experiences and innovative practices and to find out more about the ways in which business is actively helping to fight social exclusion and building stronger communities. Dragon Award winners receive a coveted dragon statuette, local and national press coverage, recognition from peers and competitors, and one winner will be visited by the Lord Mayor and his aldermanic sheriff soon after. For many, the Dragon Awards is a key opportunity to receive internal and external support for local community involvement programmes.
