Wandsworth Town Centre Improvement Scheme (TCIS)

Wandsworth Council runs a Town Centre Improvement Scheme (TCIS), whereby businesses can receive up to 33% of the cost of eligible works to improve a business premises, from a minimum support of £1,000 to a maximum of £15,000.  Please find attached a leaflet on TCIS for the Balham area.

Ariadne Founder Raises Debut Venture Capital Fund

Julie Meyer, founder of investment and advisory firm Ariadne Capital has launched a £20m venture capital fund. The Ariadne Capital Entrepreneurs Fund (ACE) has been backed by 10 leading entrepreneurs, including former Partygaming chairman Michael Jackson, David Rowe, founder of EasyNet and Marc Worth, founder of WGSN. Meyer will act as the managing partner of the fund, which will invest in internet and mobile internet companies at the seed stage, in the business applications, media technology, voice applications, financial services and digital entertainment sectors. ACE will invest the first £50,000 to £1 million into growing companies.

Retail Crime Action Plan (RCAP) - 5m to Help Small Retailers Protect Against Crime

The Home Office launched a new grants programme of £5m that will help small businesses protect themselves against crime. The funding is part of the new retail crime action plan (RCAP), which has been drawn up in partnership with the retail industry to help small businesses prevent crime.
The money will provide grants of up to £3, 000 per individual business in 50 key areas, and can be used to buy security devices such as alarms, UV markers, and security grills. The fund opened in mid August and retailers can bid for grants from an expert grants administrator.

Wandsworth Arts Fund

Artists and arts groups are invited to apply for a Wandsworth Council grant. The council has recently reorganised its arts funding system in order to better support and encourage the arts, and has two grant funds available. The Small Grants Fund supports new initiatives, the extension of an existing arts project or experiments with new work. For example, it could be used to fund a rehearsed reading of a script in development, or a new workshop series.

HEFCE Match Funding

HEFCE is administering a government-led matched funding scheme that aims to increase voluntary giving to higher education (HE) providers. All higher education institutions (HEI's) and directly funded further education colleges (FEC's) in England have been invited to participate in the scheme.

Modernisation Fund

One of the Government’s flagship funds to help voluntary and community groups overcome the impact of the recession is open for business.
Interested organisations are invited to register an interest in securing interest-free loans worth up to £500,000 from the £16.5 million Modernisation Fund.

The CCF is designed to help talented entrepreneurs and businesses in London's creative industries achieve their potential by providing seed and early stage capital investment and business support. The fund can make equity investments of up to £500,000 in promising early stage companies.

This fund (LTF) specialises in equity investment for new high growth technology companies based in Greater London.

London Councils Grants

The London Councils 2007-11 Commissioning programme currently funds 360 organisations and distributes funding on behalf of the 33 London boroughs.

Funding is awarded for four years and renewed on annual basis subject to agreed outputs and outcomes being achieved. To receive London Councils funding an organisation must operate in at least two London boroughs, be constituted as not-for-profit and can not be a public or local authority body.
