'Getting Construction Work' EventWed 16th April 2008 16.00 – 18.30hrs
Hosted by: Build South London
The ‘Build South London’ Network has been set up to provide an opportunity for construction procurers, their main contractors and Housing Associations to communicate the work opportunities that they have available to local subcontractors and to use the network database to find suitable sub-contractors. Build South London will also will give main contractors the opportunity to explain what small construction businesses need to do to be able to apply for this work.
Subcontractors, incentivised by the prospect of being able to quote for local work, will be able to obtain advice and access to skills training from relevant business support organisations so they can become suitably skilled to undertake the work available. This gives main contractors access to a larger pool of suitably qualified subcontractors.
Build South London is therefore includes construction procurers, main contractors, local and regional business support organisations, Construction Federations and small local construction businesses working together to provide a suitably skilled and qualified supply chain to meet specific procurer requirements.
We will be holding an event/workshop supported by the London Boroughs of Bromley and Lambeth at Anerley Business Centre on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th April from 4.00pm to 6.30pm for local subcontractors to gain access to main contractor opportunities and business support organisations.
The main aim of the event is to convey the message that the procurers, and their main contractors are keen to ensure that, whenever possible, they use local subcontractors on construction projects in the area.
