Housemartins buck the trend

Many building firms have struggled throughout the recession that recently hit the United Kingdom, however one small firm based in the borough of Bromley is bucking this trend and has even used the down turn to turn it’s only fortunes around.

2009 saw Housemartins Property Maintenance scratching around for a work from a number of main contractors providing strip out, drylining and carpentry trades, though the margins were extremely tights with tendering at its most competitive and the amount of project available at an all time low. When the recession hit in the late part of the year a brave decision by Manager Director Barry Martin to change the company to Housemartins Construction Ltd was made and the company business strategy was totally revamped.

While competitors were laying off work force, Housemartins have taken on a new experienced manager of the commercial department; Alan Bacon BSc [Hons.], moved into new offices In Orpington Kent and changed their focus together being a smaller main contractor for both professional bodies and private/public house owners without discrimination, if you want any type of building work done then Housemartins can do it from small decorations or a new kitchen to a full new build school or extension.

Since the time the decision was made the Firm has been able to give regular works to individual tradesmen such as decorators, carpenters, electrician and so on, all thanks to new clients and partners including CB Richard Ellis, Sibley Pares, Chestnuts Property Management and a number of private individual wanting work on their own dwellings.

The future is looking good for Housemartins with a large project starting in July, a new website and emails set for the summer, for once recently it is nice to see a good news story coming from a construction, builder as the industry as suffered some much lately but hopefully these is the start of good things for the sector.
