IAG 4 Employees

‘IAG 4 Employees’ is the third programme that South London Business (SLB) in conjunction with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has delivered over the past three years, it’s aim is to support the skills development of businesses and their staff in south London.

‘IAG 4 Employees’ is a natural progression from our successful, ‘IAG 4 Business’ and ‘Skills on Site’ programmes which were delivered between 2005-2007. Both these programmes advised businesses on skills training and any possible financial assistance available. This was coordinated with a wide range of partners including adult-learning providers, colleges and private training providers – all delivering training to businesses at a convenient time and location. The most popular training scheme amongst businesses was the short sharp tasters delivered “on site” allowing businesses cost effective training, whilst not losing their staff for a significant amount of time.

‘IAG 4 Employees’ has been very successful in engaging businesses and employees across south London. To date 102 businesses have been engaged on the programme, with 256 of their employees, aged between 20 and 67, receiving a skills audit from one of our training assessors. The key achievement of the project so far is 106 employees have achieved a short NVQ qualification, with 33 employees completing a full NVQ course in various courses.

Many of the courses undertaken have included occupation specific courses such as: the Advanced National Diploma in Travel and Tourism (City and Guilds); the Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering (CIEH);  the Certificate in Retailing (City and Guilds); and Health and Social Care (ASET), with much of the course content highly relevant to the employees job role. The feedback from employees following their course has been very positive.

Many of the employees and businesses taking part on this programme would not have undertaken much needed training without the funding provided by the London South, Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and The European Social Fund (ESF). By delivering ESF funded programmes SLB is able to identify employees who want to be assessed in their work place and gain recognition, certificates and qualifications for their skills at higher levels.

Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism
South London Business’s has successfully completed its Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism project (HLTT). Over a three year period 257 HLTT businesses have completed a company and training assessment and many more have been engaged at workshops and events. South London Business has worked with a wide range of partners in completing this project including People 1st - The Sector Skills Council for the Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism industries.
