A truly multicultural area: renowned for Brixton Market - home to Europe’s largest amount of Afro-Caribbean foodstuffs, which obviously appeals to a large contingent of Afro-Caribbean consumers who can also find specialist shops in the surrounding streets; for a Portuguese flavour head south for the Stockwell and South Lambeth Roads, one of the largest concentrations of French residents in inner London; over 2,000 Italians residents; over 1,000 Spanish residents; and a small Turkish community.

The A3 and A23 run through the borough. The A3 connects to the City and southwards to the M25 . The A23 connects northwards to the City and south towards Croydon and the M25.

Gatwick Airport is 28 miles away and just over an hour’s drive.
Cross River Tram: A proposal for a tram service running on-street between Euston and Waterloo, with branches to Camden Town and King's Cross in the north, and Brixton and Peckham in the south. A public consultation was completed earlier in 2007 to gather information about which route the public and stakeholders preferred the tram to take.
East London Line extensions: Phase 1 will involve extending the East London line to Dalston Junction, Crystal Palace and West Croydon by summer 2010. Phase 2 would connect London Overground services from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction this, however, is subject to funding.
