Nothing will be left to chance for disabled visitors to London with the launch this week by Visit London of the first truly independent guide to over 100 accessible hotels in the capital.
Available on www.visitlondon.com/accessible the hotel guide is one of the most detailed for any city anywhere. It covers every aspect of the customer visit from arrival by car or public transport to a detailed description of the rooms, bathrooms, restaurant, reception and other public areas. Services such as low level counters, hearing induction loops, facilities for visually impaired guests and adjoining rooms for carers are also noted.
One of the most useful features is a set of photographs for individual routes through each hotel, showing for example how to get from the car park to reception, or from there to the rooms or to the restaurant. Alongside the photographs are details of surfaces, distances, light levels, signage and door widths.
Visitors can search for a hotel by general area (north, south, east, west and central London), by postcode or by hotel name, or search for specific facilities and services by clicking on the icons. Any hotel which offers all those facilities in the selected area will be shown.
Detailed information is given covering more than 800 accessible rooms in 109 different hotels around the city, at all price ranges. The hotels offering the largest selection of accessible rooms in London are Premier Inn, Travelodge, and Holiday Inn and Express by Holiday Inn, both part of the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG).
South London hotels listed in the guide include:
Jurys Inn Croydon
Premier Inns - Croydon, Chessington, Twickenham, Wimbledon
Express by Holiday Inn - Wimbledon, Wandsworth
Holiday Inn - Chessington, Sutton
