SLB Members meet again, this time in a classy restaurant in Blackheath.

Chapters All Day Dining in Blackheath kindly hosted our November membership event. The restaurant situated in the heart of Blackheath Village provided a warm atmosphere for the networkers. Networkers were serviced wine and canapés throughout the evening.

Attendees were welcomed by Rutie Mupfurutsa, Membership Manager for South London Business and Philip Urasala Restaurant Manager of Chapters All Day Dining. This was then followed by an introduction from new members Martin Kirvan from BKS Legal and Annabel Kaye from 1230 TWC.

A champagne prize draw was sponsored by South London Business.

All new members have an opportunity to speak and have a stand at all members' events. The next members' event will be held in Kingston and is an ideal opportunity for businesses to promote themselves.


SLB Networking Event - Wandsworth

SLB Memberships' most recent event in Wandsworth was attended by over 60 businesses.  The event in Wandsworth was hosted by Access Self Storage in partnership with The Best of Wandsworth. 

A couple of prizes were kindly donated for SLB Members included a bottle of champagne and a VIP Experience Tour of Twickenham RFU.
The event had over 10 stands including Theo the Magician, Wandsworth Council, Towergate, Solutions @Gem and South London Export Club who also took advantage of taking to the stage to tell all delegates about their latest offers.

All members of SLB have the opportunity to speak at all members event and have a stand to promote their business for free.


SLB Networking Breakfast - Bromley

SLB's networking Breakfast in Bromley on 2nd July was, as always, a great success.

Over 50 business owners enjoyed a breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere at the Churchill Theatre. The prizes  - 2 pairs of tickets to the Chelsea  v Crystal Palace friendly match went down a storm. The prizes were donated by the local football club, Crystal Palace, and were won by Towergate Insurance and Northern Rock , both members of SLB.

There were 10 stands manned by a good mix of members of SLB and Bromley business support agencies, including Merlin Publishing, Federation of Small Businesses, Business Link, Business Focus, Bromley Council and the South London Export Club.  The stand holders were given an opportunity to network with the guests before being seated for the introduction by Peter Pledger, Chief Executive of South London Business.

The two guest speakers, Nick McMemeny from Towergate Insurance and Lillian Kyei from Jasnelle Book-keeping and Accountancy, both members of SLB, took the opportunity to talk about their latest products and services. Lillian Kyei the owner of Jasnelle Book- Keeping and Accountancy was very grateful for all the support SLB had provided since she became a member in February 2010. Lillian stated,

"South London Business is only a phone call away; being a small business they provide invaluable support and excellent networking opportunities."

As a member of SLB, you have the opportunity to promote your company at all our members' events for free.


Costco Networking Event - Croydon

After a successful membership event launched in February, SLB were back once again. This time a new member was hosting the event. The location was unexpected but sensible. Having a business owner and manager to a networking event at Costco Warehouse made a lot of sense. Business networking event within a trade warehouse already had me thinking good move.

Members took up the offer of a free stand to show off their company. The tables were gracefully decorated surrounded by gold and red chairs giving it all a royal feel to the occasion.

Important looking women dressed immaculately and men in their pin striped suits.  Costco shoppers passing by were attracted to the atmosphere, intrigued to what must be happening with an inquisitive eye.

Everyone was interacting as if long lost friends, members and non-members socialising, networking, buying and selling from each other.
The Speech from Peter Pledger (Chief Executive of South London Business) was subtle but concrete laying our the sureness of the vision that SLB Membership is there to help its members make more money.

This had the audience at full attention. Costco was buzzing and Francis Ashum (Marketing Manger of Costco Wholesale) was more than happy to give anyway an Epson printer to one of the other members of SLB. The prize was an excellent touch to the whole episode.

Overall it was a great event, great food, lovely atmosphere and for members of SLB (who attended this event for free) they met new clients and friends.

 Membership Launch - 25 February 2010

Just over a year ago, South London Business was approached by a number of businesses regarding membership to SLB. They all wanted to know if we would run networking events around all 12 boroughs of south London so they can meet with other businesses we work with and potentially new clients.

A year later on the 25th of February South London Business launched SLB Membership.  The event was kindly hosted by Jury's Inn Croydon and sponsored by Costco and Raw Nerve Ltd.
Over 100 businesses attended from all over south London and even businesses as far as Brighton attended.

"There is no geographically limit on membership to SLB. If you want to do business in south London you are welcome to join." Peter Pledger, Chief Executive South London Business.

The businesses that attended were all interested in finding out what SLB can offer its members. Some of the offers include free marketing opportunities in SLB Magazine, discounted rates to high profile events and dinners, free online market place (to promote your business to other members) and free business advice and information.

On the night Brighton Racecourse as a new member gave away free tickets to a race day to a lucky winner and TM Lewin gave away to all businesses that upgraded to membership on the night men's cufflinks and other discounts.  Over half the businesses that attended took up the offer of discounted membership rates on the night.

At all members' events, which are free for members to attend, there is an opportunity for existing SLB Members to speak in front of a large audience in different locations in all 12 boroughs of south London.
