NatWest banks on public nominations for community fund winners

NatWest in South London have decided on the shortlist of winners for the bank’s community fund and are encouraging the public to nominate their choice from Monday 8th November.

In August, NatWest launched a new fund, as part of its customer charter, to support local charities and projects and invited customers and local people to decide who would benefit from this new community initiative.

380 individual funds of £5,000 were created nationwide, with £3,000 awarded to the most popular good cause and £1,000 to the two runners up. After weeks of voting the panel have chosen 27 charities to benefit (this includes 3 winners across each of the 9 clusters of South London branches). Some of the names among the winners are; Small Steps, Whitgift Special Needs Activity Project, SSAFA Forces Help Wimbledon and St Raphael’s Hospice.

The public are now being invited to vote from 8th to 26th November on which of the three charities will receive the £3,000 top donation and which two will each receive £1,000, by visiting their local NatWest branch or by logging on to natwest.com/communityfund.

Norman Chambers, Regional Director of NatWest in South London, said: ‘The Community Fund has really captured the imagination of the public and I have been overwhelmed by the response. It was always going to be difficult to choose just three beneficiaries from the many good causes put forward. We have 27 very worthy winners but need to complete the final stage of the process by asking the public to choose how the £5,000 is divided. We look forward to sharing the results with you in December.”
