Outer London Commission

William McKee CBE

William McKee was appointed chairman of Tilfen Land in 2003, and he is also chairman of the Urban Exposure Group and the Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation. Previously, he was chairman of the UK property division of international PR consultants, Weber Shandwick.

From 1993 to 2002, William was director-general of the British Property Federation and he was chairman of the European Property Federation from 1998 to 2002. He has served as chairman of the CBI Trade Association Council and vice-chairman of the National Planning Forum.

He was chief executive of the London Borough of Merton from 1981 to 1992 and has been a visiting fellow in property at Reading University. William McKee received the CBE in the 2002 Queens Birthday honours list for services to the property industry.

In November 2008, William was appointed chair of the new Outer London Commission by Mayor Boris Johnson.
