• Temporary stoppages: unpaid leave, foregoing salary, sabbaticals and lay offs
• Reducing hours: short time working, increasing holidays, overtime bans
• Reducing pay: pay freezes, reducing pay and benefits, salary sacrifices and deferral
• Reducing numbers: withdrawing job offers, deferring start dates, redeployment, training and early retirement
• Using other non-employee options such as consultancies or contracting out

The emphasis will be on practical ideas and solutions, using management skills to reduce the risk of expensive and time-consuming unfair dismissal or discrimination claims.
