Think London Offers FREE “Touchdown London” Service to Help Brazilian Companies Globalise

16th June 2008

Think London, the official foreign direct investment agency for London, is extending its business incubator service, Touchdown London, to Brazilian companies looking to invest in London. The bespoke joint initiative with Avanta, the serviced office company, helps businesses establish themselves in London. Touchdown London is a dedicated start-up service to provide Brazilian businesses with a ‘soft landing’ in the capital, including subsidised office space and a range of support services.

The announcement was made in São Paulo, Brazil today by Michael Charlton, Chief Executive of Think London, who is on a week-long visit that will see him meet with Brazilian companies. He will also highlight the benefits that London offers companies looking to globalise through London and the opportunities the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games can offer to these businesses.

Michael Charlton said: “This visit looks to extend our dedicated start-up service to Brazilian companies, following successful launches in China, India and Mexico. We anticipate that Brazilian companies will see the value in our Touchdown London service which provides the required support needed to get up and running in London - as efficiently, quickly and cost effectively as possible.

“Brazil’s rapidly developing economic growth is fuelling the internationalisation of many Brazilian companies. I urge all Brazilian firms to take advantage of the business opportunities in London and use London as a springboard to enter international markets. Think London can help you do this.”

Chris Taylor, Director of Marketing & Development, Avanta said: “Avanta is delighted to be in partnership with Think London on this project and we look forward to assisting Brazilian companies with that all important first step of moving into London.”

Touchdown London will offer free desk space for up to three months, and thereafter a 25 per cent reduction in office rent. Services provided by Touchdown London include: assistance with company registration, immigration and work permit advice, access to professional service providers such as accountants, lawyers and bankers as well as day-to-day office facilities, including a fully-staffed reception, and meeting rooms.

The trip also looks to build bilateral relations with Rio de Janeiro, shortlisted as a candidate city for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and host city the 2014 football World Cup.
