Wandsworth: Local firms still overpaying rates

Businesses are missing up to £2,500 in annual savings due to not applying for Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR).  Wandworth Council has notably been addressing this problem by contacting more than 900 businesses to remind them to make the claim.  Generally businesses with a rateable value of less than £25,499 (Greater London) are eligible for relief. 

Chancellor George Osborne has also been encouraging businesses to apply for savings by extending a temporary increase level of SBRR.  This means that firms with a rateable value of £6,000 or below do not have to pay any rates.
