Working with the Public Sector
South London Business Ltd is a not for profit private company limited by guarantee. Formed in 1999, the company traded as South London Economic Development Alliance (SLEDA) until October 2003; when it was rebranded South London Business following a merger with the South London Chamber of Commerce.
South London Business exists to represent and promote the interests of the business community by providing a bridge between the public and private sectors. We work with public sector partners to help shape and inform policy by engaging with businesses, on behalf of the public sector, in all twelve London Boroughs south of the river Thames.
We are able to support our public sector partners by:
- Acting as the bridge between the public and private sectors through established networks.
- Adding value to the skills agenda by co-ordinating an employer led Skills Alliance for south London.
- Supporting and promote sub-regional initiatives in the innovation and tourism sectors.
- Providing market intelligence on the local business environment through our business information and research team.
- Promoting business led regeneration through our City Growth projects.
- Delivering services such as an online property database and business retention consultancy.
- Offering networking and partnership building opportunities.
- Encourage investment by promoting south London, and the benefits of living and working in the sub-region.
- Assisting local authorities retain key companies by helping them overcome issues that maybe affecting their bottom line and impacting on their decision on whether to remain in south London.
- Providing information, advice and guidance to smaller companies through our Worksmarter programme which seeks to encourage greater investment in staff training and development.
